Pont du Gard

Pont du Gard

The Pont du Gard aqueduct in southern France was part of a first century AD aqueduct which fed 44 million imperial gallons of water a day from a spring at Uzes to Nimes. The aqueduct fell 17 metres over a 51km length, the Pont du Gard falls 2.5 centimeters over 360 metres. It was build from Ad 40 to 60 and cost 30 million sestertius, $US45 million in money today, and probably with greater accuracy.
